About This Series
Mailmaster has not been alone in recognising the explosive growth of online shopping and the home delivery market. Not everyone wants or is able to travel to a pickup centre to collect a parcel, and in response to this growing challenge we have developed a range of bespoke solutions that address it head-on.
There will always be practical limitations, as parcel sizes vary enormously. The driving benchmark we've used in development has been a lady's shoe box with a very close second being a carton of wine, which presents a pleasingly similar but dimensionally different challenge.
Our solutions range from individual unit parcel bins incorporating the "Crocodile" mechanism, to bulk communal drop boxes for larger deliveries, to full stainless steel parcel-integrated letterbox banks. Each can be specified standalone or incorporated into an existing Mailmaster letterbox installation.
The Crocodile Mechanism: How It Works
Our proprietary "Crocodile" delivery mechanism is the engineering heart of the parcel bin range. Once a parcel is inserted, it cannot be retrieved from the outside, only the keyed resident can open the door from the back.

Courier Opens the Delivery Slot
The courier lifts the sprung flap on the front of the parcel bin, no key or code required. The opening is sized to accept parcels up to the target benchmark dimensions.

Parcel Slides In, Mechanism Engages
As the parcel is pushed through, the Crocodile mechanism, a sprung jaw system closes around it. The parcel drops into the secured chamber and the flap snaps shut automatically.

Completely Secure from the Outside
Once the mechanism has closed, the parcel cannot be retrieved through the delivery slot by any means. There is no way to fish it back out, it is completely secure from the exterior.

Resident Retrieves with Their Key
The resident uses their individual cam key to open the rear or front access door of their parcel bin. They collect their item and the bin resets, ready for the next delivery.
